Keep on the Shadowfell - What if I have more than 5 players?

Insight

Adventurer
I'm eyeing running Keep on the Shadowfell for a group that consists of more than 5 players. My understanding is that Keep on the Shadowfell will only have 5 pre-gen characters.

As I see it, my options are:

  1. Duplicate characters within the group (ie, two players run the 'Dwarven Fighter' but change the name and personality)
  2. Try to create a 6th character using the PHB Lite info we have so far
  3. Try to use one of the D&DXP preview characters (assuming they aren't heavily duplicated within the KotS pre-gens)
  4. Have the 6th player wait a few weeks for the core books to come out
  5. Tell the 6th player to piss off

Is anyone else facing the same or similar problem? If so, how do you plan to address it?

Do we know that KotS (need a new acronym) will only have 5 pregens? I would think there'll be 8 at least, one for each class.

If you wind up faced with that problem, you could pretty easily use the pregens from DDXP to fill in the gaps, I would think. That's assuming, as Hong said, that they don't have more than 5 in there.

Then it's confirmed useless for me... at least until I have the full rule set.
I'm curious why that would stop you. Just add more pre-gens, and more monsters if need be.

But the adventure is for levels 1-3. What if they level before the rules are out? I can't level the extra pre-gens, can I?

I might as well wait for the rules then.

Yes they simply said that they'll give you "pregen levelling ups" too (no choices of powers or feats, you have to stick with what is there).
