Keeper of Shadowfell?

"Special Thanks to Brandon Daggerhart, keeper of Shadowfell"

This blurb is in both the three core books and Keep on the Shadowfell. Who is this person (beyond being the supposed keeper of Shadowfell) and why does he deserve to be mentioned in all four books with a Special Thanks?

Inquiring minds want to know. Well, *this* inquiring mind, anyway.

He is the creatior of the Shadowfell campaign setting. I assume that it's a pseudonym, of course, but Copyright can be attributed to a pen name in the US. At any rate, the person with this name has maintained a site for a homebrewed campaign setting called "Shadowfell" since 2003 (per the copyright notice on the site). In other news, Google is your friend ;)

[Edit: Check the "Credit" section of the site. Seems that the 4e designers did exactly as Brandon Daggerheart suggests.]

Further searching shows that the Shadowfell site is registered to a "Jonathan Daggerhart" while the associated Campaign Builder's Guild site is registered to "Brandon Daggerhart" -- the former is listed as living in SC, the latter in NC. I could find little or no further information on Brandon, though Jonathan (via some Google searches) appears to be an accomplished web developer. I assume that he is either related to Brandon or that "Brandon" is a pseudonym of his (possibly a middle name).

This newspaper article <http://www.gaffneyledger.com/news/2007/0514/lifestyles/018.html> would indicate that Brandon and Jonathan are brothers.

Also, you can find a picture of him online at MySpace. He is in a band called the Freelancers, in which he is the keyboardist <http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=87145761&albumID=0&imageID=1172501>.

It looks like the Keeper of the Shadowfell is quite young. I wonder if he is even aware yet of his acknowledgment in the books.

Brother of the Keeper of the Shadowfell

Hi guys,

You've got it dead on, except I live in NC now also. Need to update those whoises.

The gaps:
We both play Dnd, he likes building campaigns, I like to play. He does a lot of his own webdesign, another friend and I help him with the hard stuff.

I don't really know the details behind the use of shadowfell, but we both thought it was awesome of Wotc to credit him! I don't expect they will do it anymore, but I'm sure he'll keep those 4thEd books forever. :)

If anyone is interested, check out http://dnd.daggerhart.com Its my asheville campaign setting / sketcher.

Wow, had no idea this discussion was here. I'm not *that* young, I was just playing with some very young people in that band. And yes, I was very appreciative for WotC's "nod" my way.
