keeping track of time

I jut wanted to know peoples advice or tricks of keeping track of time with spells that are durations like 10 min/level. If the PC casts the spell right before combat, it starts with keeping tracks of round. But how do you keep track of time after the encounter and know when the spell expires? Is it an educated guess? If PC's start talking and making plans, how does that affect the spell duration? Just was wondering if anyone had any in-house rules or tricks.

Eyeball.

When the PC does something, let them know how long it takes. Just use a time off the top of your head. Eventually, the time limit will run out.

The 10/level usually mean "after we are done adventuring for the day" after 5th level.
