D&D 4E Kill 200 Kobolds! (Or running 4E with just DDXP info)

First Post
The internet is great. We get to read and hear about information compiled together probably faster than people who are at D&D XP. Our one drawback is that while we can talk about the game they're actually there playing it!

Will anyone be running some combats this weekend using the new character sheets, primer and kobolds and whatever other monsters are leaked from DoD2?

I might try something on my Sunday face to face game. I also setup an online game:

If anyone plays D&D Online, there's a mission where you defend a keep against a wave of 200 kobolds. I may give that a try using waves of 3.5 first level kobolds followed by a small party of the new 4th edition ones.

If things go as planned, tomorrow night I'll run a group through a few waves of kobold skirmishers with the spined devil as the final boss.

Ooh, I forgot about spiny! Anyone got a link to the spined devil's stats?

The Spined Devil is level 7. I think it might be interesting to mimic the scale of 7th level by simply bumping everyone up 30 hit points (6 * 5) and giving everyone a +3 (6 * 1/2) to all skills, defenses and to hits and see how they fair against 4 spined devils.

But even just going up against 1 spined devil with a few kobold mooks would make an interesting encounter. Great idea! (Yoink!)

Here ya are.
Spined Devil
Medium Immortal Humanoid (Devil)
Level 6 Skirmisher

Init +5 Speed 5 Fly 7

Senses Nethersight, Perception +5

Resists Fire 20

AC 20 Fort 18 Ref 18 Will 18

HP/Blooded 47/23

ATTACKS
Melee 2 claws +9 vs AC each; 2d4+4
Spine Rain Standard, Ranged 10; +9 Dex vs. Ref; 1d6+2 + 2d6 Fire AND Poison 5, Slowed while Poisoned.

SKILLS Spot +10

Str +7(19) Dex +5(14) Con +5(15) Int +5(15) Wis +5(14) Cha +5(15)

Looking at the hitpoints vs the kobolds. he doesn't seem that bad.

I think standart skirmisher would be a poor boos-monster. The PCs will squish him in no time. He is not a solo monster, to be able to fight an entire party.

He isn't going solo. He'll have a couple of kobold disciples. If you can gin up an appropriate solo monster from somewhere though, please do. That'd be great.

So what are a couple of balanced encounters we can put together for a 1-hour demo with the info available?

I'd like 2-3 encounters appropriate for a party of 5-6 level 1 characters. Say some kobolds for the first encounter, then kobolds with a tiefling wizard, then perhaps a deveil and something else. How many of each?

Edit: and what other monster stats are available besides the spined devil posted here and the kobold skirmisher on the front page? Link? I'm starting to get some interest from my group, so I definitely want to set up a good playtest for our group that is neither an official playtest group nor attending D&D EXP. I'm looking for "D&D EXP ...the Home Game"!
