Purity of water has a large impact on this. In South-East Asia, the purity of tap (and drinking) water is such that water boils at 104C, not 100.Patlin said:As a resident of Colorado Springs, I'm used to abnormal conditions... as the main abnormal condition in the equation is the amount of pressure the system is under. Water boils at a lower temperature up here in the heights. Hyp's observation is of course correct... we did an experiment to confirm it in high school chemistry.

Yup. Beat the troll into negative hit points, then drop a bottle of alchemical fire onto the remains, or club it with a burning torch. It should do the trick just fine.Patlin said:The most popular methods in my experience are Coup de Grace with a torch, drowning, or strangulation. Last night I used the Summon Elemental [reserve] feat to gain the services of a fire elemental, who was able to perform a coup de grace.
Typiclly, dissolving anything in the water raises its boiling point. Kool-aid, for instance.Cameron said:Purity of water has a large impact on this. In South-East Asia, the purity of tap (and drinking) water is such that water boils at 104C, not 100.
Uhm...why? Are you assuming they can't regenerate if beheaded? FWIW, that's incorrect.chitzk0i said:Trolls have such thick, tough necks that you can't just use a big axe to completely sever its head? So long as the PCs have the troll unconscious, I'm inclined to let it work.
