King of RPGs

Hey everybody,

Hopefully this isn't inappropriate for this forum, but I just wanted to announce the upcoming launch of my gaming graphic novel... King of RPGs!

King of RPGs is the epic (240+ page) graphic novel adventure of a young boy's quest to become.... THE GREATEST DUNGEON MASTER IN THE WORLD! -_- It's a fiery, hot-blooded mashup of oldschool tabletop dungeon crawling, manga and anime, and indy comics.

Please check it out, I hope you like it. I'm putting pages online Monday through Thursday for the next month or so!

King of RPGs

Jason Thompson (and Victor Hao)

"Brilliant . . . King of RPGs will ring true to anyone who knows their Wood Elves from their Drow.”"
--– Mark Barrowcliffe, Author, The Elfish Gene

“"A fun-loving romp through gaming and geek culture, from CCGs to cosplay, with plenty of old-school roleplaying. It’s nice to see gaming get a manga treatment, with over-the-top heroes, dweebs, and villains.”"
--– Jonathan Tweet, Lead Designer, Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition

"“Really awesome. Funny and maniacal — nerd rage with a sentimental streak. Reminds me a lot of Evan Dorkin’s Eltingville Fan Club series, but updated for a new generation.”"
– Annalee Newitz, io9.com

Not only does this look really fun and combine two of my favorite genres, the art looks pretty amazing. I laughed at all the little "+X" marks on each of the online character's clothes/weapons on pg. 26, bloody brilliant. Definitely picking up a copy when this goes on sale.

Good to know there are other gamer/manga-fan hybrids out there :)

It is hot-blooded to the point of 30 ongoing fire damage!!! ^^

Thanks for the comments! The book is a ton of fun to write -- I've already finished the script for the 2nd volume, and I'm plotting new stuff as I type this.

Seein' as this drops off the first page of the general section pretty quickly, I'd suggest you repost this over at the Media Lounge. While your comic/manga doesn't easily fit into a category, graphic novels like the Watchmen and such have been discussed in that section, so it may get more attention.

Good luck and keep up the great work!
