Knights of the Silver Dragon 4E

When WotC puts out their basic set later this year, is there any indication that they will finally link the D&D line to the popular YA novel series they own?

Either having a version of the basic set branded with Knights of the Silver Dragon (with character write-ups inside and maybe even an exclusive novella rattling around inside the box) or a Knights of the Silver Dragon setting paperback seems like a no-brainer.

Otherwise, what's the point of having a D&D flavored line of YA novels if you're not going to explicitly try to drive some of those readers over to the core game line?

Didn't they end the series? I could have sworn Matt Forbeck post that they had finally released the last book in the series a few months back/

It looks like you're right.

I guess the only thing smarter than not tying in the YA D&D novels into D&D is to kill it off right before you have a new, more new-user-friendly edition of D&D to tie it into.

Were they popular? While I picked them all up on Amazon, I've never seen them in a bookstore or hobby store (not that I looked all that hard). It's very possible these books were not as popular much at all, which would make a great deal of sense to end the series and not try a YA version of a D&D product.
