So I was reading these articles on the WotC site and I must be missing something. The sidebar explains the rules mechanics for info about monsters, but none of these rules mechanics seem to be applied to the monsters in the articles. For example, the sidebar says a DC 15 check identifies the type of creature and the abilities associated with that type. But then the examples identy the creature at a lower DC (usually 11 or 12).

What gives? At least be consistent with the information in your own article!
