Your reaction was my immediate reaction too. But, since the magazine is official WotC, I can see why they have their definition as it is.

I don't see it, but maybe I'm just missing the obvious. It doesn't make sense to me to limit the contributors to WotC board members. Since it's official WotC, it makes sense to me to have it open to Wizards customers as a whole. What about people that don't peruse message boards at all?

We certainly want all players to read it. And, we want to reach out to everyone who wants to submit. But, if they're going to submit, we also want them to subscribe to the Wizards boards.

Doesn't it make sense that this would be because you want people (in general) to subscribe to the boards, and it's not a function of whether or not they submit?

I, for one, feel that the gaming community extends way beyond the borders of the WotC boards.

I'd imagine you'd also feel that the gaming community extends way beyond the boards of message boards as well.

Incidentally, I've noticed that the new website doesn't have links to the old issues. I don't know when that issue will get resolved. For now, here they are:
