Which ones are you thinking of?
Back in May, you seemed to suggest there were missing SRD monsters.

Looking through Monster Vault 1 and the SRD (and man, it'd be nice if SRD sites were alphabetical, instead of all being by CR), it mostly looks like old school stuff that, even if WotC didn't put it in the SRD, is either public domain or is out there via the old Tome of Horrors list. (Banshee, cyclops, peryton, etc.)

I think the hope for a lot of us was that Monster Vault could be a 1:1 replacement for the Monster Manual. In some cases, product identity makes that more challenging (companies have to get creative with their mind flayer and beholder analogues, for instance), but Monster Vault 1 does a bit of this with its modron and mycanid replacements. (As someone who finds the Planescape modrons a little too twee for my tastes, I especially like the ToV take on that niche.)

It's not an enormous list of missing monsters, but with everything going on (gestures with exhaustion at Twitter), it'd be great if the Monster Vaults could plus as many holes as possible so that one might switch 100% over to ToV and still be able to run existing campaigns and adventures they all own.

Hey there!

Banshee, Cyclops, and Peryton aren't in the SRD (though they are in the Monster Manual of course).

The only 5E SRD monster missing from Monster Vault is the half-dragon template (though some SRD creatures were renamed and reworked in ToV).

Also, while we like bringing fun new takes on classic monsters, we try to focus on bringing new, exciting monsters to GMs!

Hoping there are more lower/mid level monsters here (since we never make it to HIGH levels)......also, new monsters would be great. If they have a unique mechanic.

I’m currently backing Monstrous Menagerie II on Kickstarter. I can only back one..: how does this compare?
Boy, that's a tough question - Kobold Press is certainly known for monster books, and this one is going to be pretty amazing!
But from what I understand, the Monstrous Menagerie books are also really good!
