Kickstarter [Kobold Press] Northlands: Epic Norse Adventures for D&D 2024 & Tales of the Valiant

All great questions!

The D&D 2024 and ToV items are priced separately because of the DDB licenses.

Due to limitations with Kickstarter, you cannot add-on physical items without pledging for a physical item (Kickstarter does not allow this option for some reason).

However, you could back at a digital tier during the KS and then once it has closed, add the rune stones and/or stones with the Pledge Manager

Maybe this isn't possible with current restrictions or with bringing in enough to cover costs, but what would have made me excited to click the "Back this project" button . . .

Tier A: PDF only - Includes both 5E and ToV versions, $30 for one title, $40 for both titles. Not sure how DDB licenses would affect this possibility.

Tier B: DDB + PDFs - Includes DDB license for both titles, plus the PDFs (both 5E and ToV) for $70.

Physical tiers that include digital options could include both 5E and ToV PDFs also.

In my view, folks might be interested in both the 5E and ToV options, but unlikely to pay for both at current pricing. But including them together increases the perceived value of backing at those tiers, hopefully increasing backer numbers overall. And perhaps also increasing the possibility some of those folks might want to check out the ToV core books at some point, if they haven't already.

Similar reasoning with DDB. I think more folks would be willing to pay for both at these pricing levels, but including them together would really push the DDB option to a higher level of value and potentially increase folks including that in their pledge.

I know it would grab me!

I totally realize I'm armchair quarterbacking here and have no real understanding of Kobold's costs and other restrictions, but this is what is holding me back from pledging. I might be in the minority on this, no idea . . .

I'm definitely glad to hear that if I do back at a digital tier, that I can add the rune stones and/or rune deck in the pledge manager! That's good to hear! More previews on those two items would be appreciated in the Kickstarter updates!

Yep, it's always a challenge to work within all of Kickstarter's rules and quirks!

Kickstarter updates focusing on the rune cards and tiles are absolutely coming!!

Actually I'm on the same page. I don't want to have to make a decision on which one to pick up today when it won't be ready for quite a while and I don't know which one I want. I usually back everything from KP but I'm holding off on this one.

The Table of Contents, the Viking fighter subclass, and much more are available in the free Northlands Preview PDF.

Week 3 – Character Sheets, Blog, and Runes!

Hello, everyone!

Thank you for your support—thanks to you, Northlands has passed its 200k stretch goal: the Mossback Raiders adventure, which is loosely connected to events in the previously unlocked adventure, The Raven's Call.

That's not all - the form-fillable Northlands Character Sheet for both D&D24 and ToV are complete!
Yes, the fruits of the very first stretch goal are already available to download from the Kobold Press Store or DriveThruRPG

The new Northlands Rune Deck is a set of poker-sized cards organized in groups of 4. Each set is marked with one of the 12 magical runes featured in the Northlands Sagas adventure path.

The beautiful stone rune tiles resemble the carved stones found across the Nordic lands. This physical prop brings real stone and real weight to your game table—they make a strong impression because each rune tile is hewn from lovely Labradorite.
