I have heard rumour that you can easily build the encounters that don't use one of the 3 included maps with WoTC's Dungeon Tiles products. Has anyone done this? Which ones and in what amounts would I need ?

I don't know yet, but I will find out within the next few days, as my friend received his copy of Shadowfell and I've got all the Dungeon Tiles sets. I'll let you know (unless someone else beats me to it).
