KoTS Creepiness (Spoilers)

Actually, I intend to have a haunting vision at the Keep entrance (played like a trap... +6 vs. Will, 2[W] damage):

You see a man in shining armor standing over a cradle. He turns around at your approach, and you notice that his steel gauntlets are dripping in blood. "I'm sorry," he cries as he runs you through with his sword... At that the vision fades and the man and cradle are gone. But you feel a sticky warmth as blood spurts from the wound you've made in your stomach with your weapon.

The players can later learn that Sir Keegan was granted a vision by Orcus that his child would one day try to open the rift. Kalarel is, of course, that child. (I'll be changing Kalarel to a half-elf to account for the long lifespan...). When the players meet Sir Keegan, he'll be a lot less sane, and he'll be begging the players to finish what he started... Giving them the very same sword to do it.

Consideration was given to write it that way but killing zombies of murdered children was a bit too gritty so we made them generic zombies.
Blizzard was apparently faced with the same issue in the Culling of Stratholme mission in Warcraft III. What would Wal-Mart say to killing kids to prevent them rising as zombies? :p

If there's one thing the Dawn of the Dead remake taught me, it's to destroy the little buggers while you can.

Whoa. Reminds me of something out of Fatal Frame/Project Zero, which is a very good thing when it comes to spookiness. Consider it yoinked. :D

I'm always very interested in hearing stuff like this. Anything else you'd like to share that got cut?

Pools of blood, death cults, sacrifice, torture chambers, grave robbers.. oh wait that's still in there.

We cut mostly the unicorns and pixies ;)

Honestly, I don't know what else got cut.

I was mildly disappointed that the door to the torture chamber didn't have a sign saying "KEEP OUT: FILMING DUNGEON PORN".

That's cool... but I don't think I'm going to go that route... In the oprigional reading you kind of feel repulsed by his actions, but at the same time saddened by his tragic fate.

When I get to him I'm kind of really looking forward to play up the can never truly be forgiven for what he's done, but can perhaps make atonements... thing...

Shrug.

sorry i am so late to the party, but after reading this, i decided it was evil and awesome and i want to torture my players with it. What does KoTS stand for?
