The +2 dagger you get off the body of the BBEG if you don't push him into the portal of evil...it grants +1d6 extra damage on sneak attacks...

By the letter of the rules would this be raised to a d8 if the appropriate feat was taken?

Using common sense/in your DM shoes, what would you think was best?

In your best guess of the designer's intent what do you think he would say?

Are you talking about the Backstabber feat (Sneak Attack damage: d6 -> d8)?

In this case, no. The extra damage is not Sneak Attack damage itself, but instead extra damage that is conditional on the attack itself being a Sneak Attack.

No it doesn't. It grants +1d6 on a crit.

As far as I can tell, it should give 2d6 on a crit, too, being a generic '+2 magic dagger'.
