[KS] Scion 2nd Edition Kickstarter Funds in Under One Hour

[ENN] The Kickstarter for the second edition of the seminal roleplaying game Scion from Onyx Path funded its $25,000 goal in under thirty-eight minutes from its launch. Scion 2nd Edition is an update to the award winning Scion roleplaying game originally from White Wolf where the players take on the roles of demigods wielding vast god-like powers, described by some as "If World of Darkness decided screw the Masquerade, let's break stuff!" due to the over-the-top nature games can take on.

This edition updates the rules to more closely reflect the Chronicles of Darkness system with a varying dice pool of D10s with a fixed target number (8 for normal characters, but 7 for demigods or superhero nova actions) with the number of successes determining how well the character succeeds at the action as well as granting Stunt Points for even more over the top antics. A pledge of $20 gets you both required core rulebooks (Scion: Origin and Scion: Hero) with a $85 pledge getting you both books in a physical copy. There are multiple other backer levels, but already many of the exclusive collector levels have sold out (though some still remain at time of writing). This Kickstarter is already four times its funding goal and runs until Saturday, October 22.

Considering the combat update in Chronicles of Darkness compared to NWoD, I'm sure we'll see quite a few updates considering this system was even older.

Scion is not part of the Chronicle (or World) of Darkness. Onyx Path bought the IP for Scion (and the Trinity series of games).

Onyx Path has built a new game system for these games because they do not own the Storyteller system. This new system does not, by the way, use a battlewheel.
