He falls out of the air and is knocked unconscious for 1d4 rounds.</p><p>[HR][/HR]</p><p><strong>Basic Background of the Soulkeeper</strong></p><p>Straevok Soulkeeper lived around 900 years ago (c. 576 BR), and he explored much of the Sem La Vah Valley during his lifetime. He was obsessed with The Ancients and their long lifespans, which eventually led to his downfall. After discovering the labyrinth, he spent most of his remaining life exploring it and the other Ancient structures of the valley. (He never managed to get into The Palace.) One day he went deeper into the labyrinth and disappeared somewhere in the demiplane dungeon's catacombs.</p><p></p><p>His handful of fanatical followers tried to find him, but all of them, except one young woman, died in the labyrinth (and are now the various undead scattered throughout the labyrinth). The woman fled the valley and never returned, and with her, she took the last living knowledge of the man once known as The Soulkeeper (sometimes The Soulbreaker). Knowledge of him is very hard to come by in the lands of The Northwest.</p><p></p><p><strong>Regarding Streavok's Secret Lair</strong></p><p>There is a room in the Labyrinth of Lost Souls that was the personal sanctum of Straevok Soulkeeper. The necromancer kept his most prized possessions in the hidden room and none of his fanatical followers dared enter it without his permission. Straevok hated thieves and other rogues with a passion, and he gained great pleasure in tormenting such people. He never (knowingly) allowed rogues among his followers.</p><p></p><p>Ting isn't 100% sure where the room is located, but he knows there is an access point to it that is located beyond a room with two warrior statues in it. The room isn't part of the labyrinth, so the psicrystal's knowledge of it is fuzzy. The Living Altar would know exactly where it is located. Ting does know that there are multiple corridors and rooms that are connected to the Soulkeeper's secret lair.</p><p></p><p><strong>Straevok, The Labyrinth, and the Living Altar</strong></p><p>It was Straevok who inadvertently turned up the time dilation on the Living Altar when he first discovered the labyrinth and the High Sanctuary of the Ancients (aka the portal room). He added the makeshift metal bar to the double doors of the portal room, so it could be barred from the inside.</p><p></p><p>Straevok often tried to force the Living Altar to answer questions about the Ancients. The psionic construct often just stopped communicating with the necromancer for months at a time, which would enrage The Soulkeeper to the point where he would close and block the portal room’s doors and forbid his followers from conversing with the construct.</p><p></p><p>Regardless, eventually the necromancer would calm down and begin conversing with the Living Altar again. While the altar often frustrated Straevok, the necromancer <strong><u>never</u></strong> hurt the living creature (unlike Phelix).</p><p></p><p>Straevok was also the one who added the <u>original</u> gargoyle golem as a guardian. He also built the underground rooms the Bluffside Elites are now using as an underground guard post.</p><p></p><p>He also added several mundane and magical traps throughout the labyrinth. There is a flawed <em>telportation circle</em> trap at the top of the stairs that only works roughly 25% of the time. It was one of many failed experiments of his to duplicate the powerful magicks of The Ancients.</p><p></p><p><strong>Temple of Straevok</strong></p><p>Beyond the corridor leading north and the stairs leading west, there is a hidden door behind a pillar that leads to a room built by The Soulkeeper. (Ting is able to show the room to Falen in his mind.)
