LA house rule idea

Ok, I'm out. Keep your punk attitude to yourself, especially when you've already made a mistake on the same subject.

Sorry. I tend to return the same snark I get, especially when it gets implied that I am cheating by tacking on a Fighter class and having the creature wield a standard PHB weapon without even going to any real length to cheese it up.

Your numbers convinced me of what I first suspected: the modified LA rules result in a more powerful character. This isn't very surprising; losing 2 from an ability isn't much compared to a HD and all associated benefits. Of course this may not be a bad thing, since many LAs are on the high side already, but you'll have to playtest individual monsters to see if they're balanced with this rule.

Yeah, had noticed that the difference gets more exaggerated depending on the HD- the better combat HD like Monstrous humanoids/Dragons/etc seem to get a lot more out of this trade in, especially if they've got a high LA and plenty of stat fuel. And the system and templates dont play nice togther at all- seems to be less variance on just basic monsters.
