D&D (2024) Lamordia Book Speculation

Maybe someone else has already posted about this and I missed it, but there have been some recent articles about the Dungeons and Dragons Online MMO game adding a new area based on the Ravenloft domain Lamordia that make me believe this may be our October mystery book setting. The Neverwinter MMO for D&D has based new areas on D&D books in the past, so this new area of DDO could also be based on a D&D book also-just one that hasn't been revealed yet. There's little doubt the Artificer class fits in this Steampunk world and the Reanimator subclass in the Horror UA is perfect for this Domain of Dread. It's also a cold domain so this matches up with the Hollow Warden Ranger being comfortable in cold environments. Honestly, I can't think of anything that fits the UA horror playtest packet better than Lamordia.

I know it included several extra planets for the Spelljammer tie-in release, and I've always been curious if they were made-up entirely for the game or were based on cut content from the Spelljammer box set.

Perhaps it's going to do what the FR DM's guide book is going to do - have deep dives into select regions (domains in this case) to help the DM flesh out those areas and give suggestions on running the types of horror those domains represent. Lamordia could well be one of those. Basically, the Ravenloft campaign guide would still be there for an overview of the setting, while this book gets into detail of certain interesting areas (which is how the two FR books later this year look to be). One question would be whether they think Barovia would need extra coverage, or if Curse of Strahd is already detailed enough.

From your lips to Strahd's ears.

I didn't know about the Frankenstein movie. I watched the trailer and at least part of the story being set in a frigid cold area similar to what parts of Lamordia would look like. The movie release date is in November and this book is supposed to be in October. If this is the plan it's a good one.
