Large rider needs a mount.

Okay, so here's the deal:

I have a PC who is Large. Naturally, he can't ride an ordinary horse, since he'd break its back. My question is, are there any Huge creatures out there that are suitable for being a mount? Things that a low-level character could get a hold of? (I mean, sure a dragon would be great, but at 5th-level, that's a little out of this guy's reach.)

Or you could go the dire route, but have the dire-thing's teeth corked.

I second the advanced rhinoceros. Or just get an elephant. And make sure to get a huge heavy lance and pick up spirited charge

I don't think it would like it.
The rhino that is, not the hide.

Rhinos can run up to 55kph, while a warhorse only goes 65kph (in real world values). Damn fast monsters.

Try the grizzly mastodon from MM2 - a favorite mount used by giants.

Dire Horse or Elk? The Dire Horse might be large, but its really big size wise, and the Elk is huge i think. from MM2. Don't forget the warbeast template!!
