if i give a marilith, which has a reach of 10' and is large, a longspear does it increase her reach?
what if i make the longspear huge?
also if i give her the feat monkey grip (greataxe) with a huge weapon could she actually wield 6 huge greataxes?

uhg it's very early i hope that all made sense :)

Check PHB p132.

It says "An ogre with an ogre-sized longspear...", which implies that she'd need a Huge reach weapon.

The implication, of course, is that one could make a Medium longspear that grants a halfling 10 foot reach...

As for the Monkey Grip, sure, no problem :)

Check the MM entry for "Ogre", under "reach" -- an Ogre (with a 10' natural reach) wielding an up-sized "Huge Loingspear" has a reach fo 15'-20' (meaning it can hit oponents 15' and 20' away).

It seems ... if you get big enough to double your natural reach, and wield a Reach weapon ... the weapon doubles IT'S reach too (!!).

Which, yes, if turned in the other direction also means Tiny (etc) creatures, with down-sized Longspears (sized for THEM), would have the 5' reach of most PHB-race characters wielding normal melee weapons (heh).

Well.

Several pixies wielding exceptionally-thin Halfspears, really. :D Maybe the "brawny" one managing a Shortspear.

...

You know, that could prove a neat way to work in a magical Shortspear as part of the treasure of some pixies.

That, or give the buggers a pixie-sized ballista ... heh!! Do the whole Lillip[utian-castle thing. Ballistae (heavy crossbows, REALLY) firing magical ballistae ammunition (just magic bolts) at the attacking giants (just normal PC's) ... lol.

Talk about a bit of role-reversal for the PC's. I may have to try that some day ... hee!

No, Caliber had it right. Halfspears and Shortspears don't have Reach. They'd have to have size Medium Longspears, which despite being a size category smaller than ordinary Longspears, are still technically Reach weapons.
