Lashing a Weapon?

Ds Da Man

First Post

Hey all, quick question about lashing a weapon to a hand. What should be the bonus for the roll-off. A locked gauntlet has a +10, so should it be more or less. Also, what about a loop at the end of the handle. That way if disarmed, a flick of the wrist sends right back into hand. Should that be a free action, since it is right there, or a move-equivalent? Thanks for the opinions!

In my opinion, it should be a lot less. A locking gauntlet is specifically made for what it does. (I personally think the +10 bonus is too high, but since none of my players bother with them, I shrug.) Stick with the standard +2 circumstance bonus for lashing or a loop. It's easy to remember and hard to argue with.

For lashing the weapon to a hand, I'd also impose a small penalty to attacks with the weapon. (There's no way it's as maneuverable.) A loop on a weapon wouldn't interfere with attacking, but it should take the normal ME action to re-ready a weapon dangling on a loop. (In some cases, realistically, doing so would actually be harder than readying a weapon from a scabbard or whatever.)

Finally, in all cases where people have "secured" weapons, be sure to remember that on those rare occasions when monsters have a "tarbaby" SQ of some kind. It would suck to have a locking gauntlet when fighting a magnetized iron golem ...

It'll definately be harder than drawing it from a scabbard, but easier than picking it up from off the ground.
