Karkan the Bloody Handed

Human(?) Warrior: Karkan has made a career out of dealing death. For many years, he dealt it for the royalty, as the Captain of the guards. These days, he still wears his guardsman’s cloak and carries the halberd of that station, but many suspect a darker patronage.
Since leaving the guard, he has taken to wearing a great, horned helm. No one alive has even seen him with it off. But some whisper of those who have seen the face beneath the helmet, and what they saw. These whisperers are typically clergy and undertakers…

Great job!

The hands look very good - something I am struggling with so I envy you here...

The visor looks good as well and I like the character of your belt buckle.

I would cut off the horns and start again. They're not bad, just not up to the standard of the rest of the miniature. The helmet needs sharpening - maybe use some brown stuff or whatever you used for the blade.

The shin armor on the boots has me confused - at first I thought it was misplaced knee guards, but now I think it is boot decoration?

I think adding another layer of definition to the cloak would help deepen the recesses and give it a nice look.

Very nice piece - you should be proud! Are you going to cast this guy?

Thanks for the feedback, Pogre!

Yeah, I was going for armored plates on the boots, as opposed to conventional armor. Hmmmm.

And yes, I am thinking of casting him. When I finish my current project, a Mad Scientist, I might send them off to be cast together.

Thanks again for the feedback. I appreciate it!

The horns on that Texan belt buckle look, um...dangerous. :p

I see three belt buckles, but nothing hanging from his belts. It's not like he has a holster for that polearm, right? Is he just watching his figure?

If you redo the horns on the helmet, I would try to make them larger at the base, and thinner/pointier at the top. Right now it is mostly the same width the whole way up. A stronger cone shape would add some realism if that's what you're after.

Overall, certainly a good looking piece. I'd use him for a villain, or a minion for a BBEG.
