Launching a new publishing company

First Post
I am announcing that I am launching a new publishing company, that will be producing role-playing magazines in PDF format over the internet. Each will cost $5, and will be of a professional appearance with writers and artists paid for their work. At the moment, three are planned:

Almanack, a magazine covering fantasy role-playing in general, and Third Edition D&D in particular.

Royal Griffon, publishing adventures designed for fantasy campaigns, again with a focus on Third Edition D&D.

Lemurian Dreams, covering fantasy short stories – but also providing statistics, maps, notes and other valuable information for use on fantasy RPG’s.

I’m looking for and advice people might have to offer, any little hints and tips, and also for contributions to the magazine – all gratefully accepted. More details available on the website below. (Incidentally, this has only just gone up, and I am anxious to know if there are any problems accessing it. If there are, them please contact me at the email address given.)

A few comments:

1) Make that "D20", not "Third Edition D&D". Because you will provide material for D20, not D&D.

2) I'm not quite sure about that "each will cost $5". Shouldn't you price your products by content and the amount of work involved? (I know perfectly well that $5 ist the preferred "minimum price" at RPGnow, but setting a price before a product is ready for release or even written is IMHO a bit far-stretched).

3) Grant your web-site a little border on the left side. It would be easier to read.

Now that this is out of the way, I can wish you good luck.

We have been tossing around the idea of doing fiction for our upcoming campaign world, but the time involved in putting it into a professionally produced format would cut too much into our other projects. If you are up for it, we can talk about maybe running a constant feature in your magazine. Gimme an email: strutinan@hotmail.com

I hope you have plenty of sanity points to spare, because running a D20 Ezine of any type is damned taxing on your mental reserves.

I've been running OD&DITIES for three years now, and I'll tell you that it has given me more than a few tough times - it has been well worth it, though, and I think the same will be true for the new magazines.

I will be paying per word for submissions - full details avaliable on my website.

Flyspeck - I have made the change you suggested to the website.

BTW, what where you planning on paying for the articles? Will it be per word (like most hired work) or on a royalty basis?
According to the web site .012 to .015 cents a word...

It's not that bad - 1.2 - 1.5 cents a word. I know it isn't brilliant, but it is miles better than .012 cents!
I may have neglected to put a $ sign in front mine but we just said the same thing. $.012 and 1.2 cents are the same thing...
