My Sorcerer has taken a ranger cohort for three reasons:
1. Bodyguard
2. It gives me a character I can play in circumstances when the sorcerer isn't centre stage
3. If the sorcerer dies, the ranger could become my main character... no problems introducing him to the party and I've always fancied playing a ranger. (in this instance it makes quite a nice potential succession)
