Leadership & Mindless Undead Followers

Hand of Vecna

First Post
So, let's say I've got a NE 12th-level Sorcerer with a Charisma of 18. This gives him a Leadership scroe of 16 (barring other modifiers), which means he could have an 11th-level Cohort, 25 1st-level Followers, 2 2nd-level Followers, and 1 3rd-level Follower.

Could he have a Medium-Size Skeleton (1 HD) as a 1st-level Follower? A Medium-Size Zombie (2 HD) as a 2nd-level Follower?

I think the answer is going to be "No," but I'd like input from others.

WotC just posted the undead leadership feat on their website that allows you to do this. The catch is you have to be undead to take the feat (I think).

Not sure if this answers your question or not, but it might help.

I see no reason why Undead Leadership should have to be restricted to undead characters. It would be perfectly logical, and not unbalancing, to simply permit living necromancers to take it.

Necromancers don't make powerful oratory remarks to stir the still hearts of the undead minions under their control.

There are a couple of undead controlling feats that already go down that road.

innnteresting....

oh, I changed my character from the above example -- he's a Drow Fighter 2/Wizard 5/Spellsword 3 with a Charisma of 7 (-2 penalty). Next 10 levels will be Pale Master. He hangs out with mindless Undead 'cuz they won't judge him, and serve him loyally.

Or at least they would if he could control 'em with his Leadership feat... (Leadership Score 8, or 10 if the Drow's ECL of +2 counts towards the LEadership score)

Hrrmm, just looked it up, Leadership 8 means a 5th-level Cohort, no Followers. Leadership 10 means a 7th-level Cohort and 5 1st-level Followers. A far cry from the Sorcerer 12 with a Charisma of 18....
