Anyways, if looking for ideas for some unusual assassins, and you can adapt to 3e rules (from what I understand from your Chinese take-out thread, you don't use 3e), the PDF Crimson Contracts has some bizarre ideas for assassins:

http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=531&PHPSESSID=93f57cd9a52c01d56403487e986e94ef

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know if or when a printed copy of that source book will be out?

Regarding edition, our gaming group has been running now for 21 continuous years, and has always been an amalgam of different editions. Our emphasis has almost always been on the role playing, with the specific rule system used being a secondary factor. I haven't fully decided what edition to run "League of Assassins" as, but even if I don't use 3E I plan to mix in enough D20 concepts into it to get some of my more stubborn players to warm to the system.

Hmm, how about this...?

Lord Thomas Lady Antoinette Khorram.....

Well, what do you think?

LOVE IT! Consider them part of the module just as you plotted them. She will can definately be an "insider" with the church, since even through Pamela is no longer directly advising Matthan it would make sense that the High Priestess would still have someone watching and manipulating him. Thomas's looking for a new business venture could also tie in nicely with some of the foreign visitors. Thanks for the ideas and feel free to contributre more.

No idea, though ambient has printed one of their books through Mystic Eye in the past, with more in the pipeline, so perhaps sometime next year.

You might also ask on the publishers forum. Detra and Hellhound (the proprietors) hang out there.

Eldamar & Kralt Lordholdings

Eldamar Lordholding:

B4. Eldamar is located along the rough and rocky northern coast of Phlooredah. It is comprised largely of forested undeveloped lands and a few small towns and villages. It has one large city, situated at a crossroad near the southern border, within a days ride of three other Lordholdings. Eldamar City is a Bureaucracy, run by a three-person council, the leader of which hold the title of Lordholder. The council recently reorganized the city goverment, eliminating about half of the positions, in order to bring down the city's tax rate. A group of five NPC’s from Eldamar City will attend the auction, as follows:

Lordholder Lawton, 12th level lawful neutral human male thief. Political leader and head of the Eldamar City Thieves Guild. Through his various connections he is aware of the activities of the ILA, although his Guild is not a member. He has secretly worked for Queen Jennifer in the past, and feels currently obligated to help her.

Amerikus, 6th level dwarf fighter. He has also recently become a an apprentice cleric at the Church of Moradin, where his son Drullik is a High Priest. Amerikus the Dwarf, as he is known, is one of the wealthiest individuals in Eldamar City, he owns eight different businesses including his fortress home which houses a magical weapons shop by the name of Wonderous Weapons (detailed in the Judges Guild gaming supplement of the same name). He is a middle-aged widower with four adult children.

Amerikus's other businesses include an Inn, a bank, a butcher shop, a jewlery shop, an apple orchard (run by his daughter Yudit), a warehouse (run by Yudit's husband Brilldi), and a swordsmithery (run by his son Weslak). He is also the Guildmaster of the Eldamar City Armorer's Guild; President of the Metalworker's Union

His interest in the auction is the acquisition of a special jeweled hammer that is supposedly dwarven made.

**NOTE: Specifics on the hammer, shown on a later post as item C14, still need to be determined and suggestions would be welcomed.

Lady Margaret Austin, 0-level human. She is from one of Eldamar City’s founding families and is extremely wealthy. This sixty-year-old woman is also the President of the Eldamar City University, one of Phlooredah’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning. The University’s Library was used to research the histories of some of the items to be auctioned, at which time she decided to attend.

Sir James Michael "the Red Fox" Austin, 2nd level human neutral good fighter. The flamboyant and egotistical 34-year-old son of Lady Austin. He worked as a bureaucrat in the section of the city housing the university, until the position was eliminated during the recent government reorganization. He is accompanying his mother to protect her, despite his rather meager fighting skills.

General Teakas, 6th level dwarf fighter. She is Americus‘s daughter. She is going to the auction to guard her father and the other three aristocrats. She is also one of Queen Jennifer’s five top military leaders of the continent, as well as a member of the adventuring group known as The Dragonstalkers (that team is detailed in a misplaced copy of Polyhedron Magazine. I'll post the information when I find it).

Kralt Lordholding

A4. This forested lordholding runs from the north-central to northeastern Phlooredah Coast. The Lordholding has always been a military dictatorship, ruled up until the last decade by powerful half-ogre fighters. The last half-ogre leader was assassinated by a member of the Lordholding’s loosely-organized Assassins Guild, which is a recently inducted member of the ILA (which the Jawl and Halla Guilds will be unaware of). The current Lordholder is a human monk, who had nothing to do with the assassination, but saw an opportunity to seize power following his predecessor’s death.

**NOTE: The specific members of this Guild who will be attending have yet to be determined, and suggestions would be welcomed.

East and Zalpar Lordholdings

East Lordholding.

The East Lordholding is a confederacy of 15 autonomous Kingdoms, which collectively comprise the largest lordholding, running along the entire eastern Phlooredah coast from the northeast to southeast and extending almost to the center of the continent. It was their government model that the continent adopted. Representatives from two of these East Lordholding Kingdoms have been invited to the auction:

B5 (A5). A yet to be determined group from yet to be determined kingdom who will be invited as guests but at least one of them will also be an assassin.

**NOTE: Suggestions welcome as to this group is and what their ILA affiliation may be.

B6. Nos Nevits. This small kingdom is located on the East Lordholding's northeastern coast. The capital of Nos Nevits is the city of Raylan, which was developed by a former player who based it on the Italian Renaissance. At least one aristocratic couple will attend the auction. I am tentatively calling them Lord Guido Francis Rudolpho and his wife Lady Lucciana Rudolpho. Details about them have yet to be determined. The Silver Moon Adventurers most likely met this couple at a wedding held in Nos Nevits 11 years earlier.

**NOTE: Suggestions welcome as to the role of this couple, and their interest in the auction.

Zalpar Lordholding:

The only land-locked lordholding, Zalpar is located in the center of the continent. This Tolkien-inspired land has a mix of terrain and races. It is ruled by a triumvirate of leaders, namely the Leader of the Mages’s Guild, Leader of the Scholar’s Guild, and King of the New Rockhome Dwarves. Both Guilds reside in cities within the heavily populated thirty-mile diameter central valley of Zalpar, surrounded by a crown of mountains. These Zalparians tend to be rather Xenophobic, being very selected as to who visits their lands, however the mages and scholars do travel extensively abroad in their constant search for knowledge. New Rockhome is located in the northern part of the Lordholding, where the dwarven clans work ore-rich mines of precious minerals. Jawlt’s Lord Kindor originally came from Zalpar, and his army Colonel Tenbar is the grandson of New Rockhome’s current King.

B7. Modvicton. Zalpar’s Capital city is home of the Mage’s Guild. The Guild will send two representatives to the auction to attempt to acquire a specific item Accompanying them will be a top member of the Scholar’s guild, seeking to acquire more information about the history of each item. They are as follows:

Kayen Telvah, elf magic-user, Deputy Guild Master of the Zalpar Mage’s Guild.

Esherin, human magic-user, Senior Member of the Zalpar Mage’s Guild.

Ashton Abercronbie IV, Vice President of the Zalpar Scholar’s Guild.

**NOTE: This specific magic item they are seeking to get has yet to be determined.

Aldorn Lordholding

Aldorn Lordholding.

The Aldorn Lordholding, also known as the Elvan Lordholding. The land is named for a high elf Aldorn who began to keep the continent’s first time records 1019 years earlier. The now elderly Lord Aldorn rules this land through consensus. He is a humble man, who dislikes titles, and has dedicated his life to education and peace. He served two consecutive terms as Phloorehah’s 2nd ruler

B8. Arrvandar-Terra Attendees to the auction from Aldorn’s capital city of (whose name translates as ‘heaven on earth’) are as follows.

Lord Aldorn, 0-level elf sage. He had researched many of the items to be auctioned, and wishes to be present to meet and interview the people attending from other lands.

Aldoria, 9th level elf magic-user. Lord Aldorn’s only child, this unmarried elf is now the human equivalent of 47. She is very protective of her father, and will not allow him to travel without her.

Officers from the Arvandar-Terra Ship Alderia. The flagship of the Lordholding’s small 4-ship fleet, this ship will transport and house the Lord and his daughter during their stay in Jawltorn. The four ship’s officers will also serve as the royal family’s personal bodyguards. The Silver Moon Adventurers met these individuals 3 years ago, when they participated as a team representing the Aldorn Lordholding during a continent-wide athletic competition. The officers are as follows:

Arhterison, male elf (sea-based) ranger, Captain of the A.T.S. Alderia.

Eldrator, male elf fighter/cleric, First Mate of the A.T.S. Alderia

Arrirra Celatra, female elf fighter/magic-user, Second Mate and Navigator of the A.T.S. Alderia

Artimere, male elf archer-ranger, Commander of the A.T.S. Alderia Archer Squadron

This concludes the descriptions of the 8 guest groups and 4 assassin groups from the Phlooredah continent. I would like there to also be at least that many groups from outside of the continent.

Black Mark Pirates

The Black Mark Pirates are an organized group of seafarers that have been around for over 200 years. Their home base, built upon a crescent-shaped reef, is located approximately 500 miles southeast of the continent of Phlooredah. In fact, it was partially for mutual defense against this pirate group that the Lordholdings joined into their present confederacy 116 years ago. The continent’s first king, Phlooredah of the East Lordholding, used his navy to make life difficult on the prates. The next king, Aldorn, negotiated a treaty with the pirates 80 years earlier. Since that time the pirates have avoided the continent and all ships bearing the Phlooredah flag.

The home of the pirates is an elaborate man-made city, built atop the reef using ships that are no longer seaworthy. Their community now numbers approximately 900 people, and they currently have 28 seaworthy ships in their fleet. Their leader is a charismatic human who is known as Captain Blackwell. He has been with the pirates since birth, and has now led them for 12 years. He has also tried to “legitimize” their group. While they will still capture and plunder any vessel that sails within 200 miles of their home, which they consider their ‘Sovereign Territorial Waters’, they no longer raid ships outside of that range. Most of their present income comes from providing ‘Naval Services’ to various island kingdoms, which is essentially a protection racket. The have retained their name of ‘Black Mark Pirates’ for the history and reputation of the group, but Blackwell will be quick to point out that they “are no longer in that line of work”.

For the first 70 years of their treaty with Phlooredah the Black Mark ships avoided the continent. Under Blackwell’s leadership (and during the lax reign of King Matthan) they have now been making regular trade stops at several of Phlooredah’s coastal cities. They have been careful to never send more than one ship at a time, so as not to be perceived as a threat, and have also avoided making any contact with the Aldorn Lordholding.

Three years earlier an athletic competition was held on Phlooredah, and it was announced that all competitors would be welcomed. Blackwell sailed his flagship to the festivities, and led a team of eight from his ship into the competitions (the Silver Moon also competed). They did well, actually leading the competition for the first week, and several of them made it into the finals. Blackwell feels that this ‘very public’ event has now given his group legitimacy in the eyes of Phlooredah.

His flagship will sail into Jawltorn to attend the auction. While they are not invited guests, Blackwell will try to negotiate an invitation out of Lord Kindor. Blackwell will always be accompanied by his three senior officers and advisors, humans by the names of Mr. Palentree, Mr. Hawthorne, and Mr. Barnakee. He is also accompanied by his bodyguard, a reef giant known simply as Reef. All five of these were part of the eight-person team in the earlier competition, so will be known by others present from then.

**NOTE: The true motivations of this group are not yet known. Blackwell will probably want to engage Queen Jennifer in conversation to come to some type of arrangement regarding future relations between his group and the continent. He will also probably want to avoid Lord Aldorn. Given their ‘pirate’ nature, and not having been invited, they will be prime suspects for being part of the ILA but that may or may not be true.

Alexia Greatwing of Ladymist

Alexia Greatwing (pronounced, grate-ving) is a young Duchess of Ladymist, the capital of the Jade Forest.

This kingdom is ruled by a young green Dragon named the Green Lady who rules from her lair situated under Alexia's castle at the top of the step pyramid that is Ladymist.

Alexia is a handsome woman with short, curly brown hair, kept short so it is easy to tie back and won't get in the way of a fight. The Greatwing family was founded by a female Half-Dragon, Edraine, who was a knight under a Green Dragon who ruled the Jade Forest some centuries ago.

She often wears divided riding skirts and a long sword across her hip. In battle she wears magica green enameled plate armor, made to emulate a green dragon's scales. I see her as having levels in Aristocrat and Fighter as you see fit for the adventure.

Her entourage consists of a few Satyrs who make their home in the forests outside of Ladymist and were among the first servants of the Green Lady when she hatched in a local Hobbit Shire. These satyrs can be rogues, fighter or Bards, as you see fit. They are ready for a party or a fight and Alexia is not against either but wants brawls to be kept good natured if possible.

The Satyr's leader is named Mr. Unicorn and is known as such because one of his horns was cleaved off. It is also joked among the satyrs that he is called Mr. Unicorn because he has a taste for virgins.

She is a young Duchess and many do not take her seriously yet, as she serves in the shadow of a Green Dragon and many see that as the greater power. The Green Lady is careful to treat Alexia as a peer.

Also with Alexia might be one of her younger brothers, away from Ladymist for the first time and wide-eyed at this look at the world outside the Jade Forest.

If you want more about Alexia's entourage I'll be happy to give to this awesome looking game. Looks like solid stuff. I'm happy to contribute.

I will post on my Cities of the Jade Forest thread about the religions of the Jade Forest so you know what Alexia worships.

Her party would be interested in anything having to do with a Dragon and could be there to secure a gem that was in the former Green Dragon, known as the Horned Lady's treasure hoard before she was killed by the dark magicks of the Lord of Deeproot (one of her subjects).

Rock on.
