League of Extraordinary Gentlemen trailer!

Although she may not exactly be a "vampiress" in the comic, she is "different".

Moore has yet to show us much in the way of supernatural abilities, but there is definitely something about her... beyond the very well-chewed neck, that is...

First time I saw it I was quite sick in the stomach. Looks like a real perversion of the source material.

Still, like the sucker for pain that I am I'll probably still see the damn thing.

Piratecat's meeting account sounds pretty literal to me. Add the bit where they change the League's female leader to a man and let him hog the screen time. It's annoying the film is made this way not because literary fidelity is an a priori good but because the comic is visionary and wonderful, and the film will be Hollywood drek, sensationalistic in all the bad ways. It shares a title and some elements with the original, but it doesn't even try to be the same thing -- just as From Hell.

*prays that Sean Connery can at least give the movie class*

But seriously, as is looks (and there's nothing more misleading than a trailer) it seems that this will become a highspecial effect, low story action flick. I feel a second DareDevil coming up... :(

If only that were true (I actually liked it more than say Spiderman). My guess is it will be this decades 'Avengers'.

DareDevil entertaining?
Yes, you could say that, but then again D&D the movie was entertaining too and I still think it was, in my humble opinion, the worst movie of the century...

Entertainment value is only part of the movie going experience.
I mean television entertains me as wel and costs a whole lot less.

For something like this I expect the feeling that seeing it now and in the cinema was worth the money and time I could have saved by just renting the DVD.

DareDevil just didn't give me that feeling, but then again who can argue about taste ;)

Indeed given that it hit the $100 Million mark, has already launched a sequel and a spinoff, and was often reviewed as "what it lacked in f/x it made up for with a gripping and gritty story line." http://www.hollywood.com/movies/reviews/movie/1707584

I loved Daredevil, found it very true to the comic book, and am looking forward to both Daredevil 2 and Elektra. D&D Movie this was not!

I saw the trailer yesterday, and I've got to say that my expectations have been significantly lowered. I'll still go see the film, and heck I might even be pleasently suprised, but I'm not expecting anything great.

Mina was my favorite character from the comic, she was my favorite kind of female character, tough and smart. There was a reason that she was in charge of things. Quartermain was a washed up opium addict, there was a reason he wasn't in charge. I get the feeling this was simply put aside because they had a name like Connery and wanted to milk it for all it was worth.

The character's from the comic were so cool not because of any superpowers, but because of their personalities. I'm afraid in a effort to make them cool for the screen they may have forgotten what originally made them so.

i loved both the comic and trailer

i can understand that for movies that are adapted from books and comics, there may be some changes made to make the general story more accessable or understandable to a wider audience

i know there are going to be people who will always complain and moan about a movie not being exactly like the book (X-men anyone?), but in the case of LXG, i think changes had to be made.

for instance, in this day and age, i can pretty much assume many people in my age bracket, (mid 20's) have no idea who quartermain is, the real captain nemo instead of the Disney one, mina from the dracula novel, etc. hell, i didn't even really know who quartermain was until i read the LXG comic. i've heard the name Dorian Gray, but that is probably because of that old 80's movie, The Eyes of Dorian Gray. whois dorian gray anyways?

a sad but true fact is that comic books are not as mainstream as we like to think. many people may not realize that the LXG movie is not the same as the LXG comic book. i know there are some people out there who are "purists" that would prefer such movies not be made in the first place if the movie will not stay true to the story. i disagree, since i am usually happy to see the movie on the big screen and see how it would be interpreted, along with what actors were chosen to play what roles.

except for cases where the movie was just god-awful (dungeons and dragons anyone?)
