D&D 3.x Learning to fly…

I’m trying to member the various ways PCs can gain the power of fight BESIDES Arcane or Divine spells for a Gamera-inspired character. So templates, feats, base class/prestige class abilities, alternative class features, alternative casting (like psionics or Incarnum), etc. are what I’m looking for.

While I’m primarily interested in choices from D&D, options from D20 games that are closely related to 3.5Ed (like Pathfinder or Arcana Unearthed) would be good to look at. Just let me know which game (and edition) to look in.

BONUS: while it’s not my primary focus, 4Ed examples would be cool, too. Just label them clearly!

That’s a good one, and would probably fit the visual aesthetic of the source material marginally better than something like the Winged template.

Pathfinder 1e has several ways to get flight apart from casting spells.

A number of Sorcerer Bloodlines eventually grant wings. The celestial bloodline grants wings at 9th level, but only for 1 minute / level /day. The draconic and infernal bloodlines grant wings at 15th level, with unlimited use. The djinni and elemental (air) bloodlines grant unlimited flight (without wings) at 15th level.

The Dragon Disciple prestige class grants draconic wings at 9th level (so potentially as a 14th level character, if you took the prestige class as soon as possible). I'm pretty sure the D&D 3.5 edition is similar.

Obviously, as a sorcerer you're still going to have spellcasting, but the wings themselves are a supernatural ability.

A 6th level Kineticist of the Air Element can have constant Fly (as the spell); whilst this is a spell-like ability you don't need to do anything to activate it (unless someone Dispels it, in which case you can get it back as a standard action)

A 6th level Alchemist can grow bat-like wings for 1 minute / level / day as an extraordinary ability.

If the GM allows Strix as a player character race, you can get wings at 1st level.

A 5th level tengu character can take a feat allowing flight for 1 minute per level, but this is a spell-like ability (although it does involve growing crow-like wings, so doesn't necessarily "feel" like a spell-like ability).
