I mean, do DMs pay this much attention to wealth in RL games?
Yes, having had games derailed by too thrifty and too generous DMs (the former making CR equivalent challenges more difficult, the latter making them too easy and thus going too strong to compensate). In Living games, this can be compounded by the time delay in discovering it.

As far as artificers go...

I had also initially planned to make one, but maybe we'll see how character submissions turn out. In L4E, leaders are one of the minorities. But maybe with it being Eberron(plus a new class) people will flock to it.

My only other thought would be to recreate Redbeard for 4E. If anybody here remembers him, I'd like your thoughts...both whether I should bring him back(and what to do mechanically).

Don't recall Redbeard, sorry. Neither does Google. :)

Tondrek, the character I'm importing, is a half-orc artificer. And still, happily, one of the most mechanically silly choices to make. :)

So, question about the setting.

I was looking through the player's guide as well as the various wikis, and it appears that Tieflings sort of got shoehorned into the setting for 4e in order to fulfill the "everything is core" requirement. Is this a correct interpretation, or am I not seeing the rich cultural heritage of Eberronian (?) Tieflings.

Wow elec, 30? Hasn't 4e only been out for a year? I'm impressed. And jealous.

Yes, an no. The Sarlonans the core tieflings are descended from were there in 3.5, they were just not tieflings (I think they were closer to shades or half-fiends). They did make dark pacts (but with what, no one really knows) to survive the war with the Inspired. Some of those left and hit Khorvaire in different places, hiding out in the Shadow Marches or (some) becoming more feral/wild in the Demon Wastes, etc. This happened several thousand years ago by now, so most tieflings likely only have an inkling of their origination, others likely don't care.

That's my read on it.

Tieflings, eladrin, and dragonborn all got shoehorned in. Some of them fit better than others is all.

On another note, how might people feel about reskinning dragonmarks? (Within reason) More specifically, one of my LEB PCs had the 'Identify' type Mark of Finding, and is strongly not melee oriented- the 4e mechanics of MArk of Detection are actually much closer and more appropriate to the character. Would it be possibly acceptable to take the Mark of Detection feat, but say that it is, in 'flavor/background' terms, a House Tharashk mark? Or would this be an individual proposal case?

So I have a quick question.

Are you accepting character submissions now or at a later time? and where do you submit a character. The player's guide said to submit characters to a judge but did not included information on contacting one.

LOL I play a lot of PBP games and a lot of them didn't have a long shelf life I'm afraid. It DOES mean that I've pretty much seen most of levels 1-3 with most classes/races [with some mid-high level games thrown in once in a while]. That's one of the reasons I'm hoping to start here at 3rd or 4th. I new class, race AND a higher level than I get to play normally. It's all good! :)
