Legacy Magic

Quickleaf

Legend
I've worked up some spells for a high-level campaign dealing with the issue of legacy. See the pdf for a look at 9 new spells in the legacy domain.

Interesting...

Amazingly, there may be a book that has some details on this. Check out the Book of Erotic Fantasy. Not sure if they do, but from what I've read the book actualy talks about things like this.

Not sure of the levels. These are transmutation spells though, of some level (IB might be 8th or 9th).

Using the Liber Mysterum (netbook of witches...love it), here are the levels I came up with...

Crossbreed (8)
Make Fertile (5)
Enchant Loins (6), Like control outcome of birth spell
Invest Seed (7), Like "magical conception"

Hey now, no jibes!

It just means Quickleaf runs a more mythic-themed campaign, not necessarily a sex-crazed one. :) Quick, I second the level assessments..but I might lower them by one, myself, or not, depending on the needs of your story. Please, could you send your 'Birth Magic' spells my way at drmshadw AT comcast.net?

Replace the 'At' with @ for my email.

Thanks!

Will

Fascinatin'.

I have a spell imc developed by a necromancer that crosses two creatures, called Nydroth's grisly crossbreed. I haven't yet converted it to 3e, but iirc it's 7th level.

I would drop enchant loins a level too.

I prefer the name impossible birth to make fertile, btw. :)

I think these spell ideas are terrific and really lend a mythological feel to the game. It promotes the "patient sorcerer" character, as one can "attack" their enemies through their bloodlines rather than with a fireball spell. Kudos, this is unique and very flavorful.

Enchant Loins needs a better name. Currently, it sounds like the material component for it is a little blue pill ;)

Also, what's the duration on Invest Seed? That could change the level. 1 min/lv would be a bit lower, permanent would be higher (and weird, don't swim in Childbearing Lake).
