What? Huh? What?

"Torture these two men to death, then take them several hundred leagues away from the city and put them on display in the middle of nowhere. Some roadless field will do."

I repeat: What? Huh? What?

Didn't even bother to hang a lantern on it.

I think the idea behind that was that people near where the bodies were hung were acting on orders of Mr Lord Highness (forget the actual title). Like a Duke enacting punishment in the King's name. I don't think the bodies were actually transported very far, it's just that the bad guy's rule had a very long reach (which makes sense, since the power of Eidendril (however you spell it) is respected throughought all of the Midlands).

The big coincidence was why Richard's group came upon signs of this strict/corrupt ruler on the same day that a wizard decided to seek Kahlan's help. Things like that happen all of the time in TV shows, so I just shrugged that one off as literary convenience.

However, my fiance and I looked at each other and had to keep from laughing when they find yet another body that Kara can't bring back to life. It's really starting to get comical how many excuses they can find for the Breath of Life to fail. If you ask me they should just do something to the character to take that abilty away from her. It's a very powerful thing for a main character to have easy access to, and I don't think anybody would blame the writers if they outright took it away instead of constantly saying, "Oh, that doesn't work in this case because (insert new reason here)."
