The Vault of Larin Karr!

Capizzio and Kerlan approach the three stone steps. As they draw closer they can see that there are runes inscribed on and above the pair of iron doors. The three stairs before them are likewise inscribed copiously with runes. They stand before the first step, thinking, when the ground nearby erupts and a Xorn enters the cave. The wizards might recognize this Xorn, if all Xorns didn't look so much alike to surface dwellers. The Xorn does not, however, make any threatening moves toward any of the wizards. Instead, he lays a small bag of purple cloth at the feet of Capizzio and Kerlan, bows to them and bows again to the other wizards, says in Common that is not only broken, but crushed to smithereens, "Thank you," and then slowly sinks back into the earth.

Curiosity overwhelms young Cappi to the point of throwing caution to the wind. He picks up the crown royal bag of whiskey pouch and peers inside.

The Vault of Larin Karr!

There are three hexagonal gemstones inside the cloth bag: one emerald, one sapphire, and one ruby. They are all three identical in size, and have no flaws or other visible marks of any kind.

The normally unflappable Tylara is stunned to silence by the strange gift. After a moment she focuses her attention on the runes and the gems. She quickly casts a simple spell to see if either is magical in nature.

Kerlan takes one of the gems and holds it up in front of one of the depressions, still not touching the door. Seeing that the sizes match up he expounds, "Just as I thought. These gems seem to go into this door. They probably act as a key if placed in the right combination. Should we go ahead and try one?"

"Hang on, lets see if the runes give a clue" Cappizzio studies the runes to see if he can comprehend them.
