Blue
Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal
The last two campaigns I ran were 7 years and 5 years. They took place in the same world 80 years apart, with a lot of changes occurring during that time, many directly or indirectly because of the first campaign. I'm currently running a different world, completely separate from those, and also separated by game system.
I really grew into roleplaying with a DM who ran like six or seven concurrent campaigns in the Forgotten Realms at varius different levels. Things one group did could and did affect the others. He'd throw lots of plots at the wall - sometimes a group would pick one up, or a different group, or it didn't get opposed and things happened over time. There was some player overlap between different of the groups which helped bring a lot of the stories across to all of the players. I really enjoyed that.
