If you have the tiny replica of the chest can ANYBODY retrieve the chest if they concentrate on it? Also does the caster have to be alive for it to work?

No. The spell description says "you can retrieve it," so it's just the caster.

Also does the caster have to be alive for it to work?

No. An undead caster can activate it too
