Let's drop the "[3.5]ing "

This is not a love or leave it post...

For clarity's sake I hope that we can soon drop the [3.5] from the topics, etc.

The revision is standard D&D and d20 now (with the publication of the SRD).

I think it will be much clearer if we used version #'s or other designations to distinguish older rulesets rather than the standard.

Yep, I'd say probably after GenCon maybe we'll at least mention something like this in the description of the Rules forum ("Rules discussions are 3.5 unless otherwise tagged" or something).

I'm moving this to Meta for further discussion.

For safety's sake, I'll probably continue to tag my rules discussions [3.5] or [3.0], just to avoid any confusion - because you know that even if you post it up there will be a million and one people getting confused about it, and then another reader (sometimes two or more) will have to step in and remind them...

Anyway, I think that it will die out on its own in the other forums as soon as it's not a 'new thing'.

That's a nice one. Your Photoshop fu is strong. Or whatever particular fu you use. By the way, what's the font you used for that Inheritence banner, by the way? In all the hundreds of fonts I have, I don't seem to have one much like it, just when I need one. Drop me a line if you don't want to clutter up the thread, if you would.

It might depend on the number of people who switches, use some rules from 3.5 or none at all, etc...

Perhaps it will be time to add a new poll in the front page.

Since you are already going to be thinking about changing the descroption on the Rules forum, a certain other forum could use that same adjustment (if you all are so inclined).

(drum roll)

Conversions
http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=7

"Converting material from older editions to new editions (3e or 3.5 e) " or some such. :)

It would be the best place for it though, in my opinion. It keeps the potential (albeit limited) surge (just like with conversion to 3e) out of the D&D rules / House Rules forums (leaving focus on those things) and makes it much easier to reference / sort by thread down the road :)

of course, getting people to use it is another matter altogether :D

And then, it is still too early to tell how many conversion issues will come up. It will most likely be 3rd party published material that will see more "conversions" since WotC will have that conversion document up ... (and it isn't that drastic of a change from 3.0).

(again, just my ramblings).

Edit: clarified and expanded a point that was otherwise lost amidst my ramblings on the other points :)
