First Post
Alright, I've just finished reading everything I can get my hands on for the upcoming 4th edition (finally... that's a lot of reading with a full college schedule.)
Is anyone else pissed off?
I think I just basically read not a new Dungeons and Dragons edition, I feel like I just read the Munchkin's guide to running Dungeons and Dragons.
No more Flat-Footed and Touch AC in light of a simpler AC system... okay. Fine. It wasn't all that messed up to begin with, or hard to follow. But whatever, I'll go with it.
Skills have been revamped cause characters don't have enough.... WTF?!?! Fighters didn't need a lot of skills, neither did Barbarians. Fighters and Barbarians were meant to be the meat shields with weapons attached to them. They didn't need to be chemists. If they wanted to "know" something, they needed... oh my. A high intelligence?! No way?
And Rogues were skill monkey's? Duh... they were supposed to be complicated characters with many tricks and trades to support their activities.
Spellcasters were TOO powerful?! Are you nuts?! Casters had like what... a handful of hitpoints, and using armor screwed with their abilities - but as they became more powerful that could slowly change? Isn't that the POINT of becoming more powerful? Besides, doesn't anyone remember how much of a SHAFT spellcasters got from 3.0 to 3.5? The Spells became significantly weaker. Whoever doesn't agree, remember, when such and such of a spell used to last for hours? Now it only lasts for rounds or seconds?
Grappling has been simplified. Okay, grappling wasn't as easy as "swing sword, hit/miss, repeat process" but it wasn't all that ****ing complicated to begin with! If you're too stupid to figure out how grappling worked, do you REALLY think you should be handling a group of 3-6 people playing imaginary characters who have to face numerous imaginary characters YOU'VE created?
Dungeons and Dragons doesn't need to be re-invented so MORONs can play it. People shouldn't be demeaned into more simplistic creatures so they can play a game. Besides, when non-moving minatures, pencils and papers (and oh my god, simple math) is involved, most of those idiots will get tired of the game because it isn't as flashy as a video game.
Now, I'm not some psycho purist, or hateful nutjob - I'm just sick of popular media, and societal norms allowing the PUSSIFICATION (that's right, I made up a word for this) of humanity, along with DUMBING IT DOWN. Everything is SO simple now, easy to do. Soon enough, MATH will be taken out of tabletopping so retards can play it.
This is rediculous. I remember when gaming used to have standards, and required a modecum of intelligence to play them and succeed. I remember when people were forced to learn and become smarter in order to succeed at something. What the hell ever happened to that?
These are my ramblings, and my ramblings alone, flame at will - but bring your BRAIN please.
~ Me.
PS - Oh, and half orcs might not be in the base races, because the developers want to create a more PC backstory.... ORCS were supposed to be EVIL and BARBARIC, guess what happens when a little sophisticated thinking is allowed into a highly evil, tribal, barbaric society.... They kill, pillage, raze, and RAPE. IT HAPPENS. It's logical even in fantasy settings as to why HALF-BREEDS occur. Changing this so people won't be offended is simple half-wit bull****. Please, if this was the case you might as well take out the killing, cause that might offend someone who is anti-war. Oh wait, then you'd have to take out the bloodwar (which they're thinking of doing anyway), and take out the gods of war or battle, and any mention of "war" or "violence" because that's offensive. And then you'd have to take out religion too, because what about atheists, and people who choose not to believe in religion. Having a pantheon of gods is offensive to someone who doesn't believe in any kind of higher power - not too mention it's offensive to people of monotheistic beliefs. (for you morons, monotheistic means they believe in ONE GOD or HIGHER BEING)
Okay, thats enough ranting and raving... I'm done for now.

THIS IS MEANT TO BE A JOKE... GET OVER IT. I'm making fun of people that take the changing and general reworking of something as trivial as a game WAY too seriously.... After all, it is a game, and if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to play it - or can play previous editions. I support 4e.
Edited - Because my attempt at humor was illconceived and not obviously stated as such - my appologies.
