As a piece of friendly advice...there's at least half of your first post that will not sit well with the general preferences in friendly and uninsulting posting that are carried around here at the very least by the moderators of the board. Especially blanket insults like those aimed towards the future customer base (and current eager fans) of 4E are an example of stuff better avoided. :)

That said, I know the mood that you most likely posted in. It's the same that usually makes me type up something similar, then grab a pillow, punch it to death (or scream into it a bit) until I've vented most of my frustrations, then look at my post again, and delete at least half of it.

Wow, I haven't seen that much vitriol since the last Republican debate.
You think so? I thought it was about average for a post in the 4e forum.

It's been interesting to see the recent move away from 'anime' and 'videogame-y' towards calling people who like 4e 'stupid', 'cowards' and the like.

I remember when gaming used to have standards, and required a modecum of intelligence to play them and succeed.
You used to have to sit an exam to be allowed to buy 1e. And marks were deducted for misspelling 'milieu'.

Personally, I find it amusing that someone ranting about things being dumbed down can't even spell "ridiculous" and "modicum" correctly.
Even though it is proven that spelling skill has no correlation to intelligence, I LOLd all the same.

BTW OP, if someone is caught flat footed, has higher ground, or is flanking someone, it is all called the same thing: Combat Advantage. It's still in, but simply combined for simplicity, and the rogue gets to Sneak Attack when he has Combat Advantage.

I wondering when we'll hear "saboteurs", "deviationists" and "rootless cosmopolitans."

THIS IS MEANT TO BE A JOKE... GET OVER IT. I'm making fun of people that take the changing and general reworking of something as trivial as a game WAY too seriously.... After all, it is a game, and if someone doesn't like it, they don't have to play it - or can play previous editions. I support 4e.

Well, in all honesty, it is just a game, but it is also a very important hobby. Many people have met close lifetime friends playing D&D. D&D has brought a great deal of joy to many lives. I think it is fair for people to be concerned about changes in the game.

Telling people "you don't have to play it." or "play something else." is not really very fair.

You have a good point here, telling someone to just walk away from something that is a part of their lives IS indeed unfair, though sometimes it is the only recourse depending on the situation. After all, life is not fair, nor does it ever required to be, I know that sounds harsh, but it does hold true (for the most part) - even in the gaming world.

I have actually met and made some very strong friendships through gaming myself, but nonetheless, my opinion is that if after a strong bond is made - a game is STILL the only thing holding that friendship together, it may not have been as strong as one thought. Which I'm sure isn't what you meant.
