I like the term occultist, it was big way back when and then just went out of style.

theory or practice : belief in or study of the action or influence of supernatural or supernormal powers

Me neither. That's elitism, I'm telling you. ;)

I think 10,000 posts probably counts for something with the Nerd Gods.

I would suggest starting with a kinda Norse neopagan thing, because you can use a lot of stuff you learned from Worf and Walt Simonson-era "Thor", and you can act angry and offended at Christians who have perpetuated the whole loot-n-pillage Viking stereotype.

Or chaos magic, that's popular. Especially with K's. "Kaos Magick." Oooo.

Then when religion comes up, and everyone else says something lame and conventional like "I'm a Methodist," you can say "KAOS MAGICK!" and then talk for twenty minutes about the Mother Goddess and the Golden Dawn and just go all Alan Moore.

Oh, and Zen, because you add a scoop of Zen to any belief system and it implies that you are this kinda general badass Peaceful Warrior, like Kwai Chang Caine.

lets get something straight.

i don't care what you call them. you ain't at my gaming table.

and i ain't at yours.

so don't tell me how you wish me to define them.

diaglo "who has friends or knows people who don't define it that way in Real life" Ooi.

....Witchcraft is the expression of a malign power in a person's body. Especially, what is labeled witchcraft is often seen as a consuming force. The witch eats the life power of the victim.
....Sorcery is the use of a magical craft or knowledge to harm or benefit others.

This insight brought to you by my 666 class: THE OCCULT EXPERIENCe.

.......I have yet to see a d20 class that represents magical power as being a malign force that consumes you and your victim. I think I have to go make one now....

As implied above, words can have multiple meanings.

While an interesting idea for gaming, I think this thread even started out on the wrong foot, and only seems to be going downhill from here. I'm closing it on grounds of venturing into religious discussion. If you want to discuss this as an idea for a new class or the like, you can re-start it over in House Rules, minus the overt implications to modern-day Wicca or Witchcraft.
