Steeliest of the dragons
A couple I've done over the years...
Mantle of Perception: a golden chainmail mantle (worn over the head and shoulders) and hood. When the hood-part is up/on, it allows Detection (seeing) of Magic, Invisibility and Evil. I suppose in later editions you could/would add some passive bonus to Perception/Spot/Search type checks as well. Could be worn for up to 8 hours at a stretch but then would not function for an equal amount of time before you could don it again. Was designed for a paladin PC ("to enhance his gifted sight"), but no reason a fighter or cleric (anyone capable of wearing chainmail armor) couldn't use it also.
Ramshead Cudgel (the Bullhead Mace in the OP reminded me of this): a wooden club/cudgel (it was designed/created for a druid character) with a butting ram's head carved at the business end. Essentially just a magic weapon, but with some (limited charges or times per day) extra "punch" a la a Ring of the Ram
. I recall the PC taking great pleasure in playing what was termed "goblin golf" by the party. "FOOOOORE! *DOOSH!*"
And, of course, for the sake of tradition (and because its a longtime personal favorite), GOTTA have a Cloak of Invisibility ("Elvinkind")...but the hooded one, like Sheila from the D&D cartoon
not the "throw a sheet over my head" kind of Harry Potter) .
