My favorite acronyms ever came from a list of local slang expressions in one of West End Games' d6 Star Wars RPG books:

TLA = three letter acronym
ETLA = extended three letter acronym

We had an acronym where I used to work - SENNFROGB (pronounced sin-frog-b), it stood for "separation of NPA/NXX from geographic boundaries).

It was a large telephony project to make local number portability (where you could move from New York and take your 212 area code with you to Florida) possible.
