D&D 5E Level 0 Intro Adventure Help

Or have them at level 1 ( after all, levels 1-4 ARE the "apprentice levels) and then at the end if the story arc, have them all ( with in story reasoning) be able to reincarnate (and therefore rebuild) in any way hey want to.

I need to learn to read a bit better...

If these are adults, who know a bit about gaming, I would just use the pre-mades in the Starter box (and also can download them online) and play the adventure with the basic rules. After that, let them customize or play completely new characters.

(I would make it a bit easier thou ... several threads have talked about that. Maybe use less creatures, lower their attack value by 1, or use the average damage minus 1 or something to play nice with new players).

If these are adults that have no clue about gaming, then I may do my first suggestion which is just see if they like roleplaying. Make the it super simple and more about what the player wants to do and make simple DCs with simple dice rolls to resolve it. Then if they "get it" move on to the starter box.

A good idea. Maybe I will make the intro adventure more about the roleplaying aspect than the dice rolling, so to see which aspect they prefer more. Keeping the rolls simple.

Great advice! I will take all I can get!

If you really want to roll with level 0 characters, you can go this route.

Step One - let them pick a class

Step Two - Let them pick a backround

Step Three - Give them the standard array to put where they wish.

In play, give people a chance to read magic scrolls, use wands, use weapons, practice skills, etc. And at the end of the adventure, let them take 1st level in any class they want. I would try to make sure the adventure is mostly traps and challenges rather than combat, and the whole thing should be worth about 50-100xp each.
