Level 9 Spell Gate

Well... yeah. But with a Finger of Death heightened to 9th level, you could have just killed them straight out. Hell, there's even precedence for unwilling Planar transportation with a simple Plane Shift (touch attack needed, Will negates) and for a cleric Plane Shift is only a 5th level spell.

I don't think this use of Gate is in any way overpowered for a 9th level spell.

Probably not overpowered, no, but quite handy, and a reflex save or (soon if not countered) die, rather than Fort or Will. Something nifty to pull on someone who thought they were safe....
