Hey all.

I'm going down to Arlington VA for the weekend. Anyone know of a good LGS in the area that I could check out? Thanks!

If you can get to Chantilly...it's out Route 50 west, there's a great game store there called The Game Parlor. They have another location in Woodbridge...but you have to drive through the mixing bowl (I95/I395/I495 fiasco) to get there. I've only been to the Game Parlor in Chantilly. It's big, (well huge...3 store fronts for the shop) they have a huge selection and gaming tables.

Here are the two addresses:

Chantilly Location
Sully Place Shopping Center
13936 Metrotech Drive
Chantilly, VA 20151
Phone: (703) 803-3114
Fax: (703) 803-3115

Woodbridge Location
Prince William Square Shopping Center
14400 Smoketown Road
Woodbridge, VA 22192
Phone: (703) 551-4200
Fax: (703) 490-1888

Hours for both stores are 10am to 10pm

I haven't been to this store in about 2 years. I used to go occasionally at lunch. Got tired of the anti-d20 rants of the employees. That said, it has been 2 years and maybe they have different people working there now.

Thanks
Rich

Much as I can tell it's the same folks, and I went there to pick up minis and browse the titles, not to game. It may be that they still are anti-d20. But it is a whole heck of a lot closer than Chantilly.

klofft, I'd say you ought give them a call, see what they're about.

I've not been to Strategist in quite a while. I seem to recall a new owner posting here promising improvements. If you go, let us know what you think.

Game Parlor has a nice selection, but in my experience the customer service is hit or miss, and I despise stores that shrink-wrap everything. I was out there for the first time in a year a few weeks ago, and the customer service was better than in the past, at least.

They are the same employees. To oversimplify, now they rant mostly about MMORPGs killing d20. Still good people to talk to if you are searching for specific things - they can pull them right from their extensive shelves instead of making you sift through them.

Also the little known Lucky Frog cards in Annandale has a room with a little selection.

They'll take the shrinkwrap off if you ask them. I've taken 5 books to the register (the one with the dice display cases) told them I wanted the shrinkwrap off so I could decide. The guy did it without blinking.

Thanks

Didn't know about that one. Thanks. :)

Compleat Stragiest is one I only recommend when you have a specific item you want. And you called ahead and asked if they had it.
To put it in simplier terms, my wife (non-gamer) would rather me drive out to Game Parlor vice going to the CS store as she doesn't like it at all when she goes with me. And that is saying something when it's an extra 15-20 minutes going there.
But if you do go to the CS store, there is a Used book store further down the road on Rt 7 going towards the Beltway called Hole in the Wall Books. Its a little blue bldg on the left with parking in the back. You can find some good stuff in there from time to time. Good selection of Fantasy novels as well.
