Libris Mortis : Summon Monster spells: Generic Skeleton/Zombie?

Creature list of those spells includes "Zombie, Medium", "Skeleton, huge" and such. But there is no typical skeleton/zombie for each size category in 3.5e, right? Shall I need to convert 3.0e stats into 3.5e or are there any other options?

Hi!

Have a look into the MM 1, pages 226-227 and 266-267. :)

Kind regards

No no. Those monsters are not "generic huge zombie" or something. Or do you actually mean that a 5th level caster can summon 20 HD Gray Render Zombine? It seems too powerful.

The problem is, Skeleton and Zombies where "scalable monsters" (one for every size category from Tiny upwards) in 3.0, and have been turned into templates for 3.5.
The spell originally appeared in Magic of Faerûn and later Ghostwalk, 3.0 books, and the 3.5 appearances (LM and Players Guide to Faerûn) where not updated for that change. The PGtF errata says that no summoned undead may have more HD than the caster level +1 (which has its own problems). So, if your caster level is high enough, you could summon a grey render zombie.

Wow. That PGtF errata ruling seems to be a really bad idea.

By that rule, a 11th-level caster can summon 12HD Medium-Sized Hound Archon Zombie with 2nd-level spell (or 4 of them with 4th-level spell).
