Thanks Hashmalum, I havent actually read Van Richten's guide to the Lich, but some of the other Guidebooks are kewl. I contemplated the different spellcasting types alot before I decided how to design the different rituals.
The Sorcerer-Lich will be quite different. Its ritual will take several months during which the Sorcerer "meditates" and absorbs negative energy slowly (so, the Lich turning is gradual, not sudden as with the Wizard).
The Black-Guard version (also known as the Death Knight) will use his Sword as Phylactery. They will only appear if a Blackguard dies under certain conditions, on a mission from his deity (Its not really a Lich, but Im describing it in the same document, since it follows the same basic rules & age categories).
