Does darkness prevent light from passing through? The silence spell specifically says that it does, but darkness does not.

That is definitely true. The text of the spell says that if cast on a light source it extinguishes it, or rather nullifies it. But in my example, you have a light source outside of the darkness (such as a bullseye lantern).Berk said:I would personally say that darkness blocks all light, so if a darkness spell is cast on a light source, no light from that source is present.
Keep in mind I'm not arguing one way or the other. But it makes for an interesting tactic if ambient light from behind the characters lights the room and someone drops a darkness spell inbetween the light source and the characters. Does the room go pitch black (assuming the darkness spell touches wall-to-wall and cieling-to-floor)?
