Don't Like 'em but...

While I usuallly strive for a more dramatic tone, iI DID relent for one brief summer session and allow Buck Fuggins, Ranger Extraordinaire and his dwarven friend Harley son of David..

They seemed to like it, but it wore off quickly enough.

A name should match the character. If the character's light-hearted, the name can be as well.
 


No no no.

Looks like I'm in the surprising minority here. If I'm DMing, I simply don't allow idiotic names like "Shooter McBlastypants the Evoker" or "Ikill Youall the Barbarian". I also notice I tend to favor more "roleplayey" games instead of hack-and-slash. These names simply ruin the modd for me.
Now I don't mind odd, or subtley amusing names... Especially if there's a good backstory behind it.
"Kordt Coldbane" is one that is on the edge of too silly, but is subtle enough that you have to say it a few times to "get it".
