Liminal is a new RPG by Paul Mitchener, just launched by Modiphius. It deals with "the boundary between the modern day United Kingdom and the Hidden World- the world of secret societies of magicians, a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin." UPDATE: The core book appears to have already sold out.
Here's the full description:
"There’s more to the world than most of us know. Academic wizards and gutter mages, vampires and werewolves, Men in Black working for a secret religious order and a police division investigating Fortean crimes. The cities and the very landscape encompass haunted places and lost bubbles of history, faerie courts and places of power.
But you know. You’re at the edge of the Hidden World. Maybe you’ve seen it and can’t ignore it. Maybe you’re from the Hidden World, but with ties to humanity.
Liminal is a self-contained tabletop roleplaying game about those on the boundary between the modern day United Kingdom and the Hidden World- the world of secret societies of magicians, a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin."
Adventures take the form of "investigations" and there are two already available: Prodigal Son, and Haunting House.
Prodigal Son: In this case note for the Liminal RPG, the crew are taken on by a prominent magician in the Council of Merlin to track down his missing son. Naturally, things are more complicated than they seem. There is the question as to why someone in the arrogant Council of Merlin needs people involved who do not belong to the organisation. It turns out that getting involved with werewolves is the easy part of the case.
Haunting House: The crew investigate the ghostly legacy of a deceased magician. A legacy involving forbidden magic and dangerous ghosts. This case note can be run as a sequel to Prodigal Son, or independently.
There's also a free quickstart if you want to check it out.
