Limiting number of spells on Cleric spell list

In the following table, PH # is a count of the spells listed at the front of the Spells chapter - which means that some spells, like Protection from Evil/Good/Chaos/Law are being counted as one rather than multiples (but I'm okay with that).
That's a good idea, but you should probably extend it to spell families that differ between alignments but still basically do the same thing - e.g. holy word/blasphemy/word of chaos/dictum. You might have done that already- I didn't check your math.

A LOT of work

The problem I see is that it would be very hard to come up with a satisfying general rule. Gods being what they are, it would be ideal to customize spell lists for each pantheon & diety, even for each cleric.

It's an interesting game mechanic but can you dictate beyond pantheon Domain & Alignment classifications??

I did not already do that. I just looked at the spell lists in the PH and counted the lines in bold text. Basically I was just being lazy, so I could get a quick count of the number of spells at each level. My goal here is to have an easy house rule that I can tell the players, without requiring a lot of work on my part.

Obviously there is a lot more you could do with this concept. You could take the Arcana Unearthed idea of simple / complex / exotic spells and apply it to every cleric spell that there is. (Incidentally, wasn't there an old Dragon magazine article with a similar spell commonality idea?) You could go with a hybrid sorcerer-cleric type of class, like the favored soul. Or you could just let clerics pray for any spell from any source. Heck, it's the House Rules forum -- go nuts!
