Limiting spells to certain classes/spell lists

Hello all,

I was thinking about limiting certain spells to one class/spell list. I wouldn't do this to very many spells, just enough to give each spellcasting class a few more spells unique to them. Do you think this would cause problems? How many "unique" spells would you suggest?

I have thought about this but there already are many spells that are class specific in the divine arena. The problem is the generic uniform arcane spell list. Overall however, this comes down to individual flavor of the campaign world. many systems have all classes using exclusive spell lists, while others (like Arcana Unearthed) all use one universal spell list.

What kind of unique spell asignments are you looking at?
 

I have limited spell selection to certain classes before in at least two campaigns I ran. I sussed out a few divine and arcane spells that were available ONLY to certain classes, mostly to make them have a bit more character. I also made a few spells (mostly from non-core published books) available to specialist wizards to again, increase their attractiveness and distinctiveness. Nothing crazy, just a handful of spells really. The players never complained.
